Live!

We recorded the December 2009 and December 2009 Extra editions of the Jodcast at a special live event at Jodrell Bank Observatory on Saturday, 21st November 2009. Jodcast Live was the first ever Jodcast meet-up which included a bit of a tour of Jodrell Bank Observatory before recording the two shows. We had great fun and had a wonderful studio audience. Thanks to all those that turned up and apologies that we didn't get chance to talk to everyone. We hope you all enjoyed it.

Questions

Are there any photos?
Yes. Our listeners took plenty of photos during the day. Some of them are appearing on the Jodcast Flickr Group set up by Jodatheoak.

Why wasn't the stream publicised long in advance?
We weren't sure we'd be able to stream it until the night before. Apologies for the lack of notice.

Will there be another Jodcast Live?
Maybe. Our live audience seemed to want a second one. Add your opinion (for or against) below.

What a success Jodcast Live was! It was great to put faces to names and nice to see Nick back doing a couple of interviews. Great news from Chris Lintott too - he mentioned an embargo but what the heck... he said... sorry, you'll have to wait until Tuesday!
Perhaps you should do a live show for both editions every month? (Sorry, Stuart, just kidding!). Well done everyone - I shall wear my new Jodcast t-shirt with pride!

Yer i cant add much mort to what was sead my the others, it relly was a gr8 day. and what relly made our day was seeing Sir Francis Graham Smith again, the last time my dad had seen him was 20 years ago when the RGO was looking to move to Jodrell, as Sir Francis Graham Smith, sead in his intervew. thank you all for all the hard work and time you put in to it all.
i look forword to hearing the eddeted thing.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who came along to Jodrell and who followed us on ustream/twitter on Saturday. I've already said this on facebook but the Jodcast is nothing without our listeners and you guys are the ones who made Jodcast Live a success! Great occasion - thanks to the team for setting this up and inviting. Usual high calibre of guests, interviews & co.
Only regret was that the event (inevitably) had insufficient uncommitted time. I was able to talk briefly to a few of the Jodcast crew, and to other attendees - but wished there was more time to do this. Certainly a lot more questions to ask. Given that there was a show to record, that had to have priority wrt time. Perhaps a future event could be longer - even incorporate an overnight stay? (tho recognise that that has downsides in terms of time commitment, cost etc).
Thanks to Joda... for giving a lift to self and son to the station after the show!

John, I agree that there wasn't enough time for chatting. To fix that, we're thinking of having a meet-up at a pub (or other suitable meeting place preferably near public transport) in Manchester at some point in the not-to-distant future. It wouldn't be a recording and would just be a chance to chat. I mentioned it on Twitter yesterday and a few people sounded interested. Any takers from the Forum?

I'm one of the people on twitter who said yes and I'll reiterate what I said on there.
I think public transport nearby is essential for any pub based activity. I propose Oddest on Oxford Road in Manchester.
I must declare an interest as a friend owns it but I do also like it rather a lot.
